To create a new community of affordable modular houses that provide a sample of the Karentina residents with essential spatial needs as replacement to the disenfranchised and unplanned built environment of slum.
The aim of this project is to develop a selected sample of Karentina –in the Petromin district of Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) by building modular courtyard houses onto an unoccupied lot within the site’s limits. The research has looked at Sudanese architecture to understand why people lived in houses that had spaces without roofs. However, the proposed design is providing modular courtyard houses that are made international and livable for all people.
