Samia Nkrumah known throughout Ghana and in many parts of the world simply as Samia, is a Ghanaian politician and Chairwoman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), the first female to chair a political party in Ghana. She is the founder of the Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Centre and also Africa Must Unite! Both organizations promote Kwame Nkrumah's vision, philosophy and political culture within the context of a united Africa. The Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Centre (KNAC), of which she is the Executive Director, is a not-for-profit organisation which advocates policies and legislation which would positively impact on the lives of Africans. Amongst other things, KNAC assists in the provision of social and economic infrastructure in deprived urban and rural communities. All of these stem out of a belief in promoting peace through development.
Samia is a firm believer in the application of local culture and knowledge in solving local problems and has inspired many young people in the areas of politics, fashion and design and increasingly in designing houses.
She is the daughter of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his Egyptian wife, Madam Fathia Ritz. She has has worked for many years as a journalist and a media consultant was educated in Ghana, Egypt and the UK, holds a Master of Arts degree in literature.
